Ezhattumugham is a small village resting on the banks of Chalakudy River. Ezhattumugham belongs to Ayyampuzha Grama panchayat in Ernakulam district. On the way to Athirappilly-Vazhachal waterfalls, we can see a small waterfall which has seven faces in the river. That is why it is called Ezhattumugham.
On the way to Ezhattumugham waterfalls, several Oil palm plantations, Plantain farms, Mangroves, Nutmegs Farms, and coconut trees are seen on both sides of the road. In the non-monsoon season, the River is conspicuous with boulders and islets. Visitors cannot swim smoothly in these waterfalls, but bathing and splashing are so convenient. There is a hanging bridge which links the two banks of Chalakudy Rivers.
At Ezhattumugham, the government initiated a Prakriti gramam for nature aspirants. There is a garden full of flowers and medicinal plants for the tourists resting on the benches to experience a cool breeze by looking at the flowing beauty of the silent Chalakudy River. The tourists have the advantage of walking across the river upon the boulders and can easily reach the islets. However, during the monsoon season, the Chalakudy River floods its banks into the Ezhattumugham falls. Then the traffic on this route is impossible.
It is a few kilometers away from Athirappilly. It is 25 kilometers away from Nedumbassery Airport and 58 kilometers far from Ernakulam town via NH 544. The most adjacent Railway station is Angamaly.
