Meesappulimala in Idukki district has also prepared a unique feast for the natural beauty lovers. The name originates from its appearance from the south-west of a tiger, with protruding whiskers. After the release of the movie Charlie (Malayalam movie), most of the people started hearing about Meesappulimala. But most people still do not know where it is. Located in the beautiful Idukki district which symbolizes a Malayalam movie Maheshinte prathikaram, Meesappulimala is 27 km away from Munnar.
It is the second-highest peak in South India and a UNESCO World Heritage Site; the government has imposed restrictions on tourists' safety and environmental protection. Therefore, it is only possible to travel to Meesappulimala with the permission of the government and through the travel facilities provided by the government. It is illegal to go the other way. The base camp located at Silent Valley and Rhodo Valley is 21 km from Munnar on the Mattupetty route.
The tourists have to arrive at Munnar before 2 p.m. You can reach the base camp in an hour and a half. The Kurinji Falls here are beautiful. The tent charges Rs 3,500 for two, including accommodation and food. The shelter can accommodate only two people. It is a morning climb which is accompanied by a guide, set up by the Kerala Forest Development Corporation.
The ascent to Meesappulimala is an adventurous journey from the clouds to the sky. Top Station, Eravikulam National Park, and Anayirangal Dam are some of the popular enticements of Meesappulimala. It will take about 7 to 9 hours to complete the full route.
